Barbara Lavin, Secretary Norm Vance, President To: "(Post) - ALHN Membership -Vote List" From: Norm Vance Date: Mon, 08 May 2000 19:46:06 -0400 Reply-To: alhn-membership-voting-owner@egroups.com Subject: [alhn-membership-voting] Protest Received: Please Read ALHN Voting Membership: It has been determined that the attached protest has sufficient validity to warrant a period for membership discussion, submission of evidence and a membership vote. The discussion and evidence period shall commence immediately for a period of 24 hours followed immediately by a vote of the membership. Please also note that should nominee David Peterson be expelled from the ALHN, the four remaining nominees for the four vacant positions will be seated without an election, in accordance with the Idaho Nonprofit Corporations Act and Robert's Rules of Order. Discussion is now open for 24 hours on the ALHN list regarding this matter and will be followed by a membership vote. Barb Lavin, Secretary Norm Vance, President ---------------------------------------------------------------- Below is the protest received: To the ALHN, Inc. Board of Directors and my fellow ALHN members: Membership in the ALHN is a sacred trust. Membership in the ALHN is supposed to be for the preservation and protection of ALHN, not its destruction. Members who seek to damage and destroy ALHN, members who commit criminal acts against ALHN, members who violate the sacred trust of ALHN, are not members in good standing, and members who are not in good standing are not eligible to either vote or run for office. David Peterson has publicly admitted this week that he knowingly and deliberately nominated W. Ali Atlee aka Atleeah aka Alee for director of the ALHN, despite his knowledge that Ali was not whom he claimed to be. David and Darlene Mohlsick have both admitted publicly that they and others all knew that Ali was an alias, and that they voted for Ali *because* of that knowledge. David Peterson has further admitted publicly that he knows of yet another member who join ALHN under an alias. This email is to serve as my formal protest against both the nomination of David Peterson to the Board of Directors of ALHN, Inc., and the voting rights of David Peterson, Darlene Mohlsick, W. Ali Atlee aka Atleeah aka Alee and all others who are found to have participated in this apparent conspiracy to damage, destroy or take over ALHN. I further request that no election of directors be conducted until the *members* have voted on this matter. I also request that the Board immediately open this matter for a period of discussion followed by a *membership* vote. I make this protest in the full knowledge that those who wish to destroy ALHN will falsely claim that my actions are due to my desire to "control" ALHN. That this is false is proven by the fact that I have fought ceaselessly for our *membership voting rights* in the face of attacks designed to destroy not only ALHN, but USGenNet as well. If my intentions were dishonorable, I would be on their side. I ask that my fellow ALHN members join me in this protest, that those who want ALHN to survive join me in upholding our sacred trust. This means, to the best of my knowledge, that none of the three remain members of ALHN Inc. That being said, would any of the Board members *or* members-at-large object to the protest being placed on an inactive status as suggested by Carol Hammett? It was her protest, and it is she who is requesting this now be done. I think this is proper since it was suggested by the original issuer of said protests, and with the knowledge that should any of the three ever attempt to rejoin ALHN Inc., the protest would immediately become active once again. I am hoping everyone will agree to this and that we can put this negative saga finally to an end, allowing us all to proceed with the real reason we are here, that namely being history and genealogy pages for researchers use. American Local History Network, Inc. (ALHN) Four Additional Directors There were six (6) nominees for the position of board member. One declined the nomination: (Steven Gilley). One failed to accept or decline by the deadline nor did he supply the necessary information regarding home address and home phone to the Secretary or the President and is therefore not eligible to run: (David Petersen). That leaves four (4) nominees who all accepted their nomination in a timely fashion and did supply the necessary information. They are: Eveline Crocker Susan Fanning Kathy Leigh Lesley Moss We hereby certify that the above four individuals are now members of the Board of Directors and that, in accordance with Robert's Rules of Order, a membership vote is unnecessary. Congratulations are in order for these four, and for the membership, as you now have a full Board of Directors. Barb Lavin, Secretary Norm Vance, President
