For those who have received it, please excuse the duplication. Due to the fact that this was not received by all, either due to weather or computer gliches in the email system, I am extending the timeframe for accepting nominations until Friday, December 30 at 7 p.m. EDT. American Local History Network, Inc.(ALHN) NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN For Board Seats December 26, 2000 As required by the Emergency Amendment to the Bylaws #I, which states: "The terms of all directors elected in 2000 shall expire no later than January 11, 2001"; this notice is given: I. NOMINATIONS A. Nominations are now open for individuals to fill the seven (7) seats on the ALHN Board of Directors. Nominations will close 48 hours from the date of this Notice at 7:00pm EDT, on Thursday, December 28, 2000. B. Only ALHN members (ALHN Membership-Voting List subscribers) as of this date and time may nominate or be nominated, with each member allowed one nomination. C. Nominations are to be emailed to: (NOT the list!!) (ALHN) ELECTION PROCEDURES December 29, 2000 ** Please read closely, this is a little different** 1. Nominations for the election of seven (7) directors having closed and been published, the polls will open Saturday evening, December 30, 2000 7 p. m. EDT for a period of 24 hours at: http://www.egroups.com/polls/alhn-membership-voting for the election of the first candidate. 2. There will be multiple parts or ballots to this election as there are multiple candidates and seven (7) seats. Each ballot will list all eligible candidates, as published Friday evening, December 29, 2000. But the candidate that you will be voting "yes" or "no" on that particular ballot will have asterisks (**) before and after the name. 3. Each ballot for a candidate will run for 24 hours. The first beginning Saturday, December 30 at 7 p.m. EDT and ending Sunday, December 31 at 7 p.m. EDT; the second ballot will begin immediately on Sunday, at 7 p.m. EDT and end on Monday and so on until all candidates are voted on. 3. Only one vote per member, per ballot will be permitted. 4. Members wishing to vote for a fellow member who was NOT nominated, or members who do not accept "cookies" will need to vote by write-in ballot. 5. Write-in ballots will be permitted, but members who choose to vote by write-in ballot will be required to UNSUBSCRIBE from the ALHN- Membership-Voting List PRIOR to the opening of polls in order to preclude any possibility of double voting. 6. Questions may be addressed to either the President and Secretary or to the ALHN@egroups.com List. 11. Election Results of each candidate will be posted shortly after the closing of the polls. 12. The polls for the next candidate shall open immediately thereafter for a period of 24 hours, with elections conducted following the same procedures, in 24-hour consecutive increments until such time as all eligible candidates have been voted on. All candidates must receive a majority of "yes" votes to be elected. If all receive a majority, the seats will be filled according to the percentage of "yes" votes they received. 13. As of Friday, December 29, 2000, there are 70 eligible voters. As per Robert's Rules of Order, a majority vote (50% +1 of those actually voting) is required. Director's Election Results December 29, 2000 - January 7, 2001 In accordance with the Emergency Amendment to the Bylaws #I, "The terms of all directors elected in 2000 shall expire no later than January 11, 2001." Elections of new directors for 2001 were conducted between December 29, 2000 and January 7, 2001. There were eight (8) eligible candidates for seven (7) seats. Seven of the candidates were successful in receiving a majority vote of members voting.
